It seems such a waste of resources to employ so many top organisers in nonproductive, but money-making, roles.

I have an interest in the field of private equity and "alternative investments"(hedge funds and other such nonsensical parasitic means of speculation). I generally have respect for private equity as a whole but then you get folks like Carlyle. However, just like Carlyle, the private equity field is full of former officeholders and bureaucrats who are valuable for their deep pool of well-heeled contacts.....who just happen to be accredited and qualified investors.
