The High Road... and economic democracy

It's my pleasure to draw your attention to this ressource. Dan Swinney from the Center for Labor & Community Research is presenting a very interesting vision, close to what we are trying to develop, here, at Economic Democracy for the Americas. His book is online. If you read nothing else, look at chapter 5.

I've got an autographed copy! It is one my prized possessions-in-print. ;)

And I believe Swinney's analysis is powerful. He doesn't engage in the kind of "wouldn't-it-be-nice-if" kind of stuff....he gets down to the reality of what kind of competencies have to be developed by a movement for economic democracy.

If there is anything I would love to see Dan Swinney expand upon it would be how a mass social movement for economic democracy might manifest itself politically. He emphasises building competence and capacity through expanding a network with various kinds of actors in all manner of movements, parties, sects and sectors. I wonder if a focused political effort might be worth developing in order to mobilise the capacity that does exist. Both the Italian and the early NPL experience in the upper Midwest suggest how this might occur.

So I'm looking forward to "Building the Bridge to the High Road II"
