Fair and Balanced

Being a "civic republican" (is that another sly way of saying "social democrat"??) I wouldn't make the best anarchist. Nevertheless the best and most principled category-breaking analysis about matters social, political and economic seem to me to be coming from anarchists.

Por ejemplo....Kevin Carson who at the Mutualist Blogspot delivers unerring jabs at unthinking, unprincipled and self-interested pretentions of statists and "vulgar libertarians." Not given to Kentucky windage, Carson aims center mass with profound thoughts mingled with solid quotable quotes from the giants of libertarian thought, at the rigamorole, folly and trash cast along the narrow road to the commonwealth by the dissimulators of both the left and the right....or what passes for left and right these days...particularly in USAmerica.

Thanks! Your "Kentucky windage" remark reminds me of an anecdote about John Randolph, who challenged a senator from Illinois to a duel. Unlike most of the objects of Randolph's symbolic challenges, he was a farm boy who accepted the challenge: he proposed squirrel rifles, with a piece of paper the size of a dollar pinned over each combatant's heart. Needless to say, Randolph found an excuse to back out.
